16 GB SDHC card for everyday capture

This 16 GB Secure Digital High-Capacity card carries a Class 10 speed rating and a maximum read speed of 45 MB/s. It fits any device with an SDHC slot and includes a write-protect switch to guard against accidental deletion. The card weighs 4.5 g and measures 31.75 mm by 23.88 mm by 2.29 mm. It is sold individually and covered by a lifetime limited warranty.

Suits casual photographers.

The Class 10 rating guarantees a minimum sustained write speed suitable for Full HD recording and burst stills. Buyers who need 4K capture, extended 4K clips or the fastest offload times should look at cards with higher video speed classes or UHS-II interfaces. The 16 GB capacity also limits session length for raw-shooting workflows.

Class 10 / UHS-I (U1) speed class decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility and performance tier is the Class 10 / UHS-I (U1) rating. It guarantees a minimum sequential write of 10 MB/s, which matches the needs of most consumer cameras and camcorders. Verify that your host device supports SDHC before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the Verbatim 96808 require a host device with an SDHC slot to function?

Yes, the card requires an SDHC host device; it will not work in standard SD slots that only support cards up to 2 GB.

Will the Class 10 / UHS-I (U1) rating deliver the same minimum write speed in an older camera that only supports Class 6?

The card will fall back to the host's maximum capability, so an older Class 6 camera will write at its own 6 MB/s limit rather than the card's 10 MB/s minimum.

How can I verify the card is delivering its rated 45 MB/s maximum read speed after setup?

Run a benchmark tool such as CrystalDiskMark or Blackmagic Disk Speed Test on a PC with a UHS-I card reader and confirm sequential read results approach 45 MB/s.
