Secure storage for sensitive data

The Verbatim 98666 is a 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive built around hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption. It targets professionals who must protect business records, legal files or personal health information from unauthorised access. A retractable connector removes the risk of losing a cap during daily transport.

Silent operation with no thermal load

The drive draws power only from the host port and contains no moving parts, so it produces zero audible noise and negligible heat during transfers. Performance scales with the host controller; a USB 3.0 port delivers the fastest throughput while USB 2.0 ports remain fully functional for compatibility.

Plug into any standard USB-A port

The drive works with Windows 2000 through Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.1 or later without extra drivers. Its lightweight 0.01 oz body adds almost no bulk to a keyring or laptop bag. Buyers who need hardware encryption on a different interface or a larger capacity should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the 256-bit AES hardware encryption on the 64GB USB 3.0 drive?

Plug the retractable connector into a USB 3.0 or 2.0 port on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8 or Mac OS X 10.1 and later, then run the built-in configuration tool to create your password before storing files.

Will the retractable USB connector mechanism wear out or need replacement?

The retractable design has no removable cap to lose, and the sliding mechanism is built into the silver housing for the life of the 64GB drive.

What speed limit appears first during long transfers on the USB 3.0 interface?

Sustained write speed will be constrained by the flash memory and controller inside the 64GB model, not by the USB 3.0 host connection.
