Compatibility check before ordering

Verify that your device has a USB port compatible with USB 3.0 connectivity for optimal transfer performance. The drive requires initial password configuration before data can be encrypted and stored, so ensure you can run the setup process on your intended host system.

Upgrade path from unencrypted drives

This drive replaces standard unencrypted flash drives when data confidentiality is mandatory and hardware encryption is preferred over software solutions. The jump is worth it if you transport regulated or private data and need anti-tampering features that resist brute-force attacks without relying on host software.

Questions about this item

Does the Verbatim 98664 package include any cables or software discs, or must I download the encryption utility separately?

The drive itself is the only hardware in the box; the hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption works without extra software, so no separate download or disc is required.

Is the 16 GB capacity the only option in the Secure Pro range, or are larger versions listed under the same model number?

Model 98664 identifies this specific 16 GB version; other capacities carry different model numbers and are not covered by this listing.

What real-world transfer rate can I expect from the USB 3.0 interface when moving encrypted files to a desktop PC?

USB 3.0 supports up to 5 Gbit/s bandwidth; actual throughput will depend on the host controller and file mix, but the hardware encryption engine does not add measurable latency.
