Purpose and audience

The Vertiv Geist Facility Side Cable (FSC1N001) is a detachable 10-foot power cord that defines the input power configuration of the Vertiv Geist Universal Power Distribution Unit. It is intended for technicians and facility managers who need to connect a UPDU to a 30A, 208V NEMA L6-30P supply. Builders who require a different amperage, voltage or plug type cannot use this cable.

Behaviour under sustained load

The cord carries a continuous power rating of 30A at 208V with a maximum capacity of 4.9 kW. It is designed to deliver that rated current without derating when the UPDU draws full load over extended periods. Installations that demand higher current or a different voltage will need an alternative facility-side cable.

Build quality and connectors

The cable terminates in a locking NEMA L6-30P plug that secures the connection against accidental disconnection in rack environments. Its 10-foot length provides flexibility for routing to overhead or under-floor power distribution while keeping slack manageable. The fixed plug type means the cord cannot be adapted to other receptacle standards without replacing the entire assembly.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 30A 208V cable generate when the PDU runs continuously at its 4.9 kW rating?

The cord itself is a passive conductor and does not generate measurable heat under normal operation; any warmth comes from the PDU's internal electronics, not the cable.

Which PDU models accept this NEMA L6-30P facility-side cable for input power?

It is designed for Vertiv Geist Universal PDU units that use a detachable facility-side cord with an L6-30P plug.

Can I connect this 10-foot L6-30P cable to an older Vertiv Geist PDU that originally shipped with a different plug type?

Only if that older PDU has a detachable input cord and its inlet matches the L6-30P connector; otherwise the plug will not fit.
