External Battery Cabinet for GXT5 UPS

The Vertiv GXT5-EBC36VRT2U is a 36 V DC lead-acid battery cabinet built for Liebert GXT5 UPS systems rated at 500 VA, 750 VA and 1000 VA. It adds runtime for server rooms, network closets and edge sites that need longer backup without replacing the UPS itself.

Installation with Auto Detection

The cabinet mounts in a 2U rack space or stands as a tower and connects through power and communications ports. Hot-swappable batteries let you replace modules while the UPS stays online, and the new auto-detection feature configures the UPS automatically so the extended runtime is recognised immediately. Up to six cabinets can be linked, but each additional unit adds cabling and physical space that must be planned in advance.

Capacity and Runtime Headroom

A single cabinet supplies 36 V DC to the compatible UPS, extending backup time for the connected load. Runtime scales with the number of cabinets, yet the UPS charger is rated for a maximum three-hour recharge, so very long outages followed by short recovery windows can leave batteries partially charged. The design targets a three-to-five-year service life, after which capacity drops and replacement becomes necessary.
