SwitchAir passive airflow device

The Vertiv SA1-01002 is a passive 1U airflow management module designed for network switches with rear air intake on the non-port side. It creates a dedicated channel that guides cold aisle air directly to the switch intake using the device's own onboard fans. This suits data centre operators who need to maintain consistent intake temperatures without adding active cooling components.

Adjustment range 7.63 to 11.63 inches

The module telescopes from 7.63 inches to 11.63 inches, or 193.8 millimetres to 295.4 millimetres, to match varying cabinet depths. It fits standard 1U rack spaces and bridges the gap between the front rails and rear-mounted switch intakes. The range covers common rack configurations but will not reach deeper cabinets or shorter mounting positions outside the stated limits.

Passive thermal management

Because the unit has no fans or moving parts, it adds no acoustic noise or power draw to the rack. It relies entirely on the switch's internal fans to pull cool air through the channel. The design also blocks hot exhaust air from recirculating into the cold aisle, reducing the risk of overheating and premature equipment failure without increasing operational load.
