50A Generator Cord Kit

This 50A generator cord and inlet box kit supplies emergency power from a generator to a house. It includes a 25-foot STW cord rated for 50 amps with a NEMA 14-50P male plug and a twist-lock NEMA SS2-50R female connector. The pre-drilled inlet box accepts a NEMA SS2-50P plug for secure outdoor installation.

Generator Output and Mounting Surface

Verify that your generator provides a NEMA 14-50P compatible 50A outlet before connecting the male plug. Confirm the mounting location can accommodate the inlet box dimensions of 178 x 117 x 110 mm with a 27.5 mm opening diameter. Ensure the 25-foot cable length reaches between the generator position and the fixed inlet box without strain.

Carrying Strap and Hardware Included

A PVC carrying strap and non-woven bag help transport and store the 23.4 lb cord assembly. Three supplied screws fasten the inlet box during installation, while the detachable plug simplifies wiring through the pre-drilled hole. ETL certification confirms the cord and box meet safety standards for outdoor use.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and is anything else needed for installation?

The kit includes a 25 ft generator cord with NEMA 14-50P and SS2-50R connectors, a pre-drilled power inlet box with SS2-50P plug, a PVC carrying strap, a non-woven bag and three mounting screws.

How do I choose between the connector types listed for this kit?

The cord has a fixed NEMA 14-50P male plug for the generator outlet and a twist-lock SS2-50R female end that mates only with the included SS2-50P inlet box, so no alternative versions exist.

What does the 50 A rating mean when the cord is connected in a real installation?

The 6/3+8/1 AWG copper cable and ETL-listed components are rated to handle 50 amps continuously through the 25 ft length when plugged into a matching 50 A generator outlet and inlet box.
