3500 lbs Axle Brake Kit

This electric trailer brake assembly fits axles rated for 3500 lbs and uses a 4-hole mounting pattern. The pair includes one left-hand and one right-hand unit so both wheels are equipped for replacement or new installation.

Self-Adjusting Thermals and Power

Self-adjusting brake pads maintain consistent clearance without manual intervention during normal towing. Each magnet draws between 2.5 and 3.6 A at DC12V, producing 450 N of magnetic force for reliable actuation.

Asbestos-Free Pads and Hardware

The kit supplies two complete brakes with backing plates and asbestos-free semi-metallic pads rated at a 0.48 friction coefficient. Pad dimensions of 2.26 x 0.19 inches and a 10-inch magnet size match the 10 x 2.25-inch drum specification.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 4-hole backing plates on a 3500 lbs axle?

Bolt the 4-hole flange to the axle flange using the correct torque sequence; the step most people miss is seating the magnet wiring through the backing-plate grommet before torquing the nuts.

What maintenance will the asbestos-free semi-metallic pads need after 30,000 km?

At 30,000 km the pads reach their rated lifespan; replace both left and right assemblies as a set to keep the 0.48 friction coefficient balanced.

At what point does the 10-inch magnet hit its 450 N force limit during a long descent?

Sustained current draw above 3.6 A at DC 12 V pushes the magnet past its 450 N rating, so the force limit appears first on extended downhill braking.
