2.4" Aviation Aluminum Ice Ball Press Kit

This kit produces 2.4-inch ice spheres from blocks using a gravity-fed press made of aviation-grade aluminum. It is designed for home bars and cocktail enthusiasts who want slower-melting ice for whiskey and mixed drinks. The set includes a press, block mold, drip tray, mat, tongs, and a serving glass.

Upgrade from standard ice trays and small molds

Standard trays create small cubes that dilute drinks quickly due to high surface area. This press forms a single large sphere in 40 to 60 seconds, reducing melt rate for longer chill. The jump is worth it when serving spirits neat or on the rocks where dilution control matters most.

Simple gravity operation with warm-water prep

Place the aluminum mold assembly on the mat, insert an ice block, and let the top half descend under its own weight. No power or force is needed. The main issue is reusing the press too quickly; the metal must be soaked in warm water between cycles to restore thermal conductivity for clean cuts.

Questions about this item

How much bench space does the 9.84 cm wide press need?

The press is 9.84 cm wide and weighs 3.2 kg, so a stable flat surface that can support 7.05 lbs is required.

What is the correct way to load the ice block into the top-and-bottom mould assembly?

Place the ice block in the lower mould, align the upper mould, then let gravity pull it down; the grooved design locks the halves together for a perfect 2.4 inch sphere.

How do I keep the aviation aluminium press working smoothly over time?

Rinse with warm water after each use, dry the non-slip coating thoroughly, and store the 3.2 kg kit on its mat to prevent surface scratches.
