Log Skidding Tongs 18 inch

The VEVOR log skidding tongs are an 18 inch two claw lifting tool built from thick 45 steel for heavy duty log handling. A maximum opening of 19.45 inch lets the jaws grip large diameter logs as well as hay stacks cables or stones. The integrated suspension ring connects to a vehicle chain for dragging and carrying tasks on rough terrain. Load capacity reaches 772 lbs or 350 kg.

Thermals noise and power

Manual operation means there is no motor no fan and no electrical draw so the tool runs silently and produces no heat during normal use. The spray painted surface resists rust without requiring powered maintenance. Weight is 7.1 lbs or 3.2 kg making it light enough for one person to position yet sturdy enough for repeated lifting cycles.

Sustained load behavior

Under continuous pulling the eagle claw hooks tighten their grip automatically so the hold strengthens rather than slipping as tension rises. The 45 steel construction resists bending through repeated heavy lifts up to the rated 772 lbs limit. No thermal throttling or power loss occurs because the tongs rely purely on mechanical leverage and material strength.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the tongs to a chain for dragging logs?

Connect a chain to the integrated suspension ring on the tongs, then secure the chain to your vehicle or winch. The ring is built into the frame and requires no extra hardware.

What part of the tongs wears out first with heavy use?

The sharp claw hooks and the pivot pin take the most stress. Inspect the hook tips for rounding and the pin for elongation after each job; replace the pin if it shows visible wear.

At what load does the steel start to bend permanently?

The tongs are rated for a maximum load of 772 lbs (350 kg). Staying at or below that limit avoids permanent deformation of the #45 steel arms.
