Radiant Floor Pipe for Hydronic Systems

This PEX-AL-PEX tubing serves hydronic radiant floor installations in residential and commercial buildings. The five-layer construction combines cross-linked polyethylene with a central aluminum barrier that blocks oxygen diffusion. Supplied in a 656 ft coil, it suits large-area layouts without mid-run joints. Installers receive a pipe cutter, rounding tool and twenty clamps in the package.

Temperature and Pressure Limits of the Composite

The aluminum core permits continuous operation from -40°F to 203°F (-40°C to 95°C) while resisting corrosion and scale buildup. At 0.08 in overall wall thickness the pipe handles typical hydronic pressures without bursting. The oxygen barrier protects boilers and pumps from internal oxidation over the system life. Extreme cold or sustained temperatures beyond the rated range are not supported.

Upgrade from Single-Layer PEX Without Oxygen Barrier

Builders replacing standard PEX gain an integral oxygen barrier that eliminates separate corrosion inhibitors. The aluminum layer also reduces thermal expansion, keeping staple-down or plate layouts flatter during heat cycles. The jump is worth it when the design calls for ferrous components or when long-term fluid quality cannot be monitored. Projects that require potable-water certification or non-hydronic gas distribution cannot use this tubing.
