Tow Chain for Heavy Recovery

This VEVOR tow chain is a Grade 80 alloy steel chain with a 5400 lbs safe working load. It measures 5/16 inch in diameter and 6 ft in length, and includes a 15 inch long shank J hook cluster, a grab hook, and a D-shackle. The galvanized finish protects against corrosion during transport and recovery work.

Suited for Wrecker and Trailer Towing

Operators who need a rated chain for wrecker recovery, trailer towing, or heavy equipment transport will find the 5400 lbs capacity and G80 construction appropriate. Buyers who require a higher working load limit or a longer reach for their specific rigging setup should look at other options.

5400 lbs Safe Working Load Decides Fit

The single specification that determines whether this chain is the right part is the 5400 lbs safe working load. Match this rating to the gross weight of the load being pulled or secured; if the application demands a higher rated capacity, this chain will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

What chain diameter and length must the mounting point accommodate?

The chain is 5/16 in (8 mm) thick and 6 ft (180 cm) long, so the attachment point must accept that link size and reach.

How is the 15 in shank J hook correctly engaged, and what common error should be avoided?

Seat the load in the centre of the hook bowl; never catch the load on the hook tip, and do not twist, invert or twine the chain during hookup.

What wear signs on the galvanized Mn-steel chain and hooks indicate replacement is needed?

Replace the assembly if any link shows permanent elongation, visible cracks, nicks, gouges or corrosion that removes the galvanized coating.
