Sealed 16 x 28 Inch Shower Niche

The VEVOR XPSNICHE1628 is a recessed wall niche measuring 16 by 28 by 4 inches with a black finish. It uses a triple-layer waterproof base of XPS foam board, cement mortar and waterproof coating to provide 100 per cent sealing. A movable divider shelf allows flexible organisation of soap and shampoo. The unit weighs 2.2 kilograms and includes ten stainless steel claw washers and ten M5 countersunk screws for installation.

Suited for Tiled Shower Walls Needing Built

This niche fits builders and renovators who want a ready-made, waterproof insert that can be tiled over directly. The double-layer cement mortar surface reinforced with fiberglass mesh supports up to 62 kilograms per square metre. It is not for buyers who need a surface-mounted caddy, a niche with different internal dimensions, or a unit that can be installed without additional waterproofing materials.

Recessed Install Requiring Waterproofing Membrane

The niche installs between studs in a shower wall and must be used with separate waterproofing materials, not on its own. Its lightweight XPS foam core makes handling and placement straightforward during the build. The sealed design protects surrounding walls from moisture, while the included hardware secures the unit before tiling begins.

Questions about this item

What waterproofing materials do I need to install with this 16 x 28 inch niche?

The supplier notes this unit must be used together with separate waterproofing materials; it is not a standalone waterproof barrier.

Will the 12 x 24 inch interior accept my existing shower caddy?

The internal shelf measures 12 by 24 inches, so any caddy that fits within those dimensions will sit on the movable divider.

How can I confirm the niche is sealed after fitting?

After installation, run water over the joints and check that no moisture appears behind the cement-mortar and fiberglass-mesh surface.
