Enterprise SAS Drive for Dell 13G Servers

This 2.5-inch enterprise hard drive mounts in a Dell Generation 13 hot-swap tray and connects through a 12Gbps SAS interface. It is built for 24x7 operation in high-workload data-centre environments. Compatible Dell part numbers include 400AJPD, R3H6D, 400AJPI and WXPCX.

Suits Dell PowerEdge Bays Needing 10K Spindles

Administrators populating 13G PowerEdge chassis with 10K RPM SAS drives will find the correct form factor and caddy here. Buyers whose servers require a different drive generation or tray design should verify their chassis specifications first.

12Gbps SAS Interface Decides Compatibility

The drive communicates exclusively over 12Gbps SAS, so the backplane and controller must support that protocol. If the system uses another interface the drive will not function.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 12Gbps SAS drive into the G13 tray and which way does the connector face?

Slide the 2.5in drive into the Dell Gen. 13 hot-swap caddy until the SAS connector engages the backplane; the tray latch clicks when fully seated.

What maintenance or replacement will the 10K SAS drive need during 24x7 operation?

The enterprise drive is built for continuous workloads; plan replacement when SMART attributes indicate wear or after the 2-year replacement period.

At what point does the 12Gbps SAS interface become the bottleneck under sustained writes?

The 12Gbps SAS link caps sequential throughput, so sustained write streams will hit that interface ceiling before the 10K spindle saturates.
