Viega 20720 ProPress XL reducer 4" x 2" bathware
A copper press-fit reducer joins 4-inch and 2-inch tubing for potable water systems rated to 200 psi and 250 degrees Fahrenheit
- ProPress XL press-fit system eliminates open-flame soldering on 4 in to 2 in copper
- EPDM O-ring seals potable-water lines at up to 200 psi working pressure
- Rated for continuous service at 250 °F maximum operating temperature
- Copper construction resists corrosion in hot and cold water distribution
- Straight reducing connector installs in seconds with standard press tool
Press-Fit Copper Reducer 4 in x 2 in
The Viega 20720 ProPress XL reducer joins a 4 inch copper tube to a 2 inch copper tube using press-fit connections on both ends. It is intended for potable water systems and installs without soldering or threading. The straight reducing connector is made from copper with an EPDM O-ring seal.
Maximum Pressure and Temperature Ratings
The fitting is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi and a maximum operating temperature of 250 degrees F. These limits define the safe envelope for hot and cold water distribution. The 6 inch overall length determines the space required between the two tube ends once the joint is pressed.
Verify Tube Sizes and Press Tool Compatibility
Confirm that the existing copper tubing matches the 4 inch and 2 inch copper tube sizes specified for Side A and Side B. Ensure the press tool and jaw set available on site are approved for the ProPress XL system in these diameters. Check that the EPDM O-ring material is compatible with the intended water treatment chemicals.

Questions about this item
Will the EPDM O-ring need replacement after extended service?
The EPDM O-ring is rated for 250 degrees F and 200 psi maximum operating conditions; replacement intervals depend on water chemistry and temperature exposure.
What is the first limit reached when the fitting runs continuously at high temperature and pressure?
The 250 degrees F maximum operating temperature is the primary limit under sustained use.
How much heat does the copper body transfer when the system runs all day at 200 psi?
Copper conducts heat efficiently, so the fitting will reach near water temperature; no additional heat is generated by the press-fit connection itself.
