ProPress XL reducing tee for copper pipe
The Viega 22278 ProPress XL reducing tee joins three copper tube sections in a single press-fit fitting. It connects a 2-1/2 inch main line to two 2 inch branches for potable water systems. Installers use it when a supply run splits to smaller distribution lines.
Press-fit connection with EPDM seal
Each port uses a press-fit design that eliminates soldering, flux and open flame on the job site. The factory-fitted EPDM O-ring provides the watertight seal when the fitting is pressed with a compatible tool. A centre-stop dimple ensures the tube is fully inserted before pressing.
Rated for 200 psi working pressure
The copper body is rated to a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi in potable water applications. This pressure rating determines whether the fitting meets the design requirements of the specific plumbing system. Systems exceeding this pressure require a different fitting class.

Questions about this item
Does the EPDM O-ring on the 22278 need periodic replacement?
The EPDM O-ring is designed for the fitting's service life and does not require scheduled replacement under normal potable-water conditions.
What pressure limit governs continuous operation of this reducing tee?
The maximum operating pressure is 200 psi, which is the primary limit during sustained use.
How much heat does the copper body add to the water during all-day flow?
Copper conducts heat but the fitting itself generates none; any temperature change comes from the surrounding environment, not the tee.
