3/4 in Press-Fit Steel Cap
The Viega MegaPress 4856 is a carbon-steel crimp fitting cap designed for 3/4 in compatible pipe in non-potable water systems. It uses a press-fit connection with an EPDM O-ring and carries a zinc nickel-plated finish for corrosion resistance. The cap meets FM, IAPMO, ICC and NFPA standards as well as ASME B31.1, B31.3 and B31.9 codes. It is rated for 200 psi maximum operating pressure and 250 Degrees F maximum operating temperature.
No Accessories Included
The fitting ships as a single cap without additional components, software or centre stop hardware. Installation requires a compatible press tool and jaw set, which are not supplied and must be sourced separately. The press-fit design eliminates threading or welding consumables, reducing on-site material needs. No documentation beyond the standard markings is provided in the package.
Verify System Compatibility
Confirm the piping system is designated for non-potable water and operates within the 200 psi and 250 Degrees F limits. Ensure the existing pipe is 3/4 in nominal size and suitable for steel press-fit fittings. Check local code adoption of the listed ASME B31 standards before specifying this cap. The product is not restricted for sale in any listed state.

Questions about this item
How long will the zinc-nickel coating on this 4856 cap protect the carbon steel before corrosion becomes a concern?
The zinc-nickel plating on the carbon steel body provides a durable barrier against corrosion in non-potable water systems, extending the service life of the fitting under normal operating conditions.
Will the 200 psi pressure rating hold during continuous operation, or does the EPDM O-ring limit the cap's performance first?
The EPDM O-ring is rated for the same 200 psi maximum operating pressure as the fitting body, so the pressure seal remains the primary limit under sustained use.
Does the carbon steel body or the EPDM seal reach its 250 °F temperature limit first when the system runs hot all day?
Both the carbon steel construction and the EPDM O-ring share a 250 °F maximum operating temperature, so the thermal limit applies to the complete assembly equally.
