Viega MegaPress 1 in Cap
The Viega MegaPress cap fits 1 in steel pipe and seals with a press-fit connection and EPDM O-ring. It is rated for non-potable water at up to 200 psi and 250 Degrees F. The zinc nickel-plated finish protects against corrosion in traffic and parking lot applications. Standards include FM, IAPMO, ICC, NFPA and ASME listings.
Replaces Threaded or Welded Caps
This cap replaces threaded or welded end caps where a flame-free press tool speeds installation on compatible 1 in steel pipe. The jump is worth it when labour savings and fire-safety requirements outweigh the cost of press equipment. It does not suit potable water systems or pipe sizes other than 1 in.
Handles 200 psi and 250 Degrees F
The fitting comfortably handles non-potable water at 200 psi and 250 Degrees F within listed standards such as NFPA 13D, 13R and ASME B 31.1, 31.3, 31.9. It runs out at pressures above 200 psi, temperatures above 250 Degrees F, or when potable water approval is required.

Questions about this item
Will the 2 7/16 in overall length of this 1 in steel cap fit inside my press-fit piping layout?
The cap measures 2 7/16 in overall length and is designed for 1 in compatible pipe size with a press-fit connection, so verify your layout allows that exact insertion depth before pressing.
Which press tool and jaw size must I use to install the Viega 25740 cap, and what is the common mistake?
Use a Viega-approved press tool with the correct 1 in jaw; the step people get wrong is pressing before the pipe is fully seated against the center stop, which prevents a complete seal.
When should I replace the EPDM O-ring on this zinc nickel-plated steel cap in a 200 psi, 250 Degrees F non-potable water system?
Inspect the EPDM O-ring annually and replace it if you see cracking, hardening, or any leakage at the press joint, especially after prolonged exposure to the maximum 250 Degrees F operating temperature.
