Copper press-fit elbow for potable water
The Viega ProPress 77072 is a 90-degree street elbow made from copper with an EPDM O-ring. It joins a 2-inch press-fit connection to a 2-inch FTG connection in potable-water systems. The fitting meets ASTM B75 and ASTM B88 and is rated for 200 psi at 250 degrees F. Installers who need a compact direction change in copper pipe use this fitting.
Press connection removes need for solder or flux
The press-fit end creates a permanent, leak-tight seal when crimped with a compatible ProPress tool. No open flame, flux or solder is required, so installation is faster and safer in occupied buildings. The FTG end inserts into a standard copper fitting for a second press joint. This combination suits repairs and new runs where flame-free work is specified.
Rated for 200 psi and 250 degrees F only
The fitting must not be used above its listed pressure or temperature limits. It is not approved for gas, compressed air or high-temperature steam service. The copper body and EPDM seal are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids or aggressive chemicals. Systems that exceed 200 psi or 250 degrees F require a different fitting.

Questions about this item
Will the EPDM O-ring need replacement after years of service?
The EPDM O-ring is rated for up to 250 degrees F and 200 psi; replace it if leaks appear or during any system overhaul.
What pressure limit is reached first during continuous high-pressure use?
The fitting is rated to 200 psi maximum operating pressure; sustained operation above that level will exceed its design limit.
How much heat does the copper body transfer when hot water runs all day?
Copper conducts heat efficiently; at the 250 degrees F maximum temperature the fitting will become very hot to the touch.
