Clamp-on cabinet for letter files

The VIVO black clamp-on filing cabinet mounts to desks between .6 and 2.1 thick using heavy-duty C-clamps. It holds letter-size documents measuring 8.5 x 11 inside a steel drawer that extends 8.7 on a 12 sliding track. The unit weighs 11 lbs empty and requires a surface that can support the combined load.

Sustained load behaviour

The drawer is rated for 22 lbs of files and supplies, so daily use at or near that limit is within specification. Steel construction and a smooth sliding track keep operation quiet and consistent when the cabinet is fully loaded over long periods. Total product dimensions of 18 x 13 x 14.5 remain stable under the rated weight.

Build quality and daily implications

Solid steel construction and heavy-duty C-clamps measuring 2.2 x 2.8 each provide a secure mount without permanent modification. Under-desk clearance of 14.3 accommodates the cabinet height while leaving legroom. Inside drawer dimensions of 12 x 8.7 x 10 keep letter files upright and accessible throughout the workday.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the steel drawer generate during all-day use?

The cabinet has no motor or electronics, so it produces no heat and the smooth sliding track keeps drawer operation quiet.

What desk thickness and clearance are needed for the C-clamps to fit?

The clamps accept desktops from .6 to 2.1 thick and require at least 14.3 of vertical clearance beneath the surface.

Will the 12-inch sliding track clear a keyboard tray or cross-brace mounted under my desk?

The track extends 12 inches from the clamp face, so measure your under-desk obstructions against that depth before installing.
