2.5GBase-T PCIe 3.1 Adapter

This PCI Express 3.1 network adapter adds a single 2.5GBase-T RJ45 port to a desktop, workstation or value server. It uses the Intel I225-V controller and fits x1, x2, x4, x8 or x16 slots. A low-profile bracket is included for small-form-factor builds.

PCI Express 3.1 x1 lane interface

The card operates over a PCIe 3.1 link at 5 GT/s using one electrical lane. It negotiates 2500BASE-T, 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-TE speeds automatically. Supported systems include Windows 10, Windows 11, Linux, ESXi 7.0, OpenWrt, Unraid and Proxmox VE.

2.5 Gbps multi-gigabit throughput

The adapter delivers up to 2.5 Gbps over Cat5e or better copper cabling, with a 3 ft Cat8 patch cable supplied. It handles 2.5 Gbps, 1 Gbps and 100 Mbps links; 10 Gbps and faster network tiers are not supported.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.5Gbps rating actually deliver inside a PC?

The Intel I225-V controller negotiates at 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps or 100Mbps depending on the switch and cable, giving up to 2.5Gbps throughput on a single RJ45 port.

How does the PCIe 3.1 x1 interface affect the maximum speed?

PCIe 3.1 x1 provides 5GT/s bandwidth, which is sufficient for the adapter's 2.5Gbps Ethernet link without bottlenecking the connection.

What does the low-profile bracket change for installation?

The included low-profile bracket lets the card fit in slim chassis where a full-height bracket would not clear the case opening.
