Two mechanical power switches with colourful backlighting for external PC motherboard start and reset control

  • Colorful backlight adds visible status in low light
  • Mechanical shaft delivers tactile click feedback on press
  • External remote start lets you power on from a distance
  • Two-piece kit covers both power and reset functions

What the Switch Kit Does

This set provides two external power switches with colourful backlighting and mechanical-shaft keys. Each unit connects to the motherboard front-panel headers to turn the PC on or off and to trigger a reset. The mechanical action gives tactile feedback, while the integrated illumination lets the buttons be seen in low light. It is aimed at builders who want the power and reset controls on the desk rather than on the chassis.

Wiring and Compatibility Limits

The switches use the standard two-pin front-panel connectors found on most desktop motherboards, so installation requires access to those headers. Cable length is fixed, which restricts how far the buttons can be placed from the case. No software configuration is needed, but the backlight draws power from the motherboard header and cannot be dimmed or colour-selected independently. Builders with non-standard header layouts or very compact boards may find the connectors do not fit.

Questions about this item

Should I use both switches as power and reset or assign them differently?

Each switch can connect to the motherboard's power or reset headers, so you decide which handles startup and which handles reboot.

How visible is the backlight inside a typical case?

The colorful backlight shines through the mechanical keycap, making the switch easy to locate in a dark chassis without extra lighting.
