3.5-inch hot-swap caddy tray accepts SATA or SAS drives for HP Gen8 and Gen9 ProLiant servers
This 3.5 inch hard drive caddy tray fits HP ProLiant Gen8 and Gen9 servers including DL360, DL380, DL388, DL320e, DL360e, DL380e, DL385p, DL560, ML310e, ML350e, ML350p, BL420c, BL460c, BL465c, BL660c, WS460c, SL230s and SL250s. It supports both SATA and SAS drives for hot-swap bays. Part number 651314-001 matches the original HP specification for these platforms.
The caddy contains no fan or active cooling components so it adds no noise or power draw to the server. Drive thermals depend entirely on the chassis airflow and the drive's own specifications. The metal tray conducts heat from the drive body into the server's directed cooling path without additional energy consumption.
The tray ships ready to accept a single 3.5 inch SATA or SAS drive using the integrated latch mechanism. No screws, rails or adapters are included because the design locks directly into the Gen8 and Gen9 hot-swap backplane. This allows drive swaps without tools or cable management during maintenance windows.

Slide the drive into the tray, secure it with the included screws, then insert the assembly into the hot-swap bay until the latch clicks; the step often missed is fully engaging the latch so the SAS/SATA connector seats properly.
The tray itself has no moving parts; only the drive inside may need replacement, and the plastic latch should be inspected if it becomes loose after repeated hot-swap cycles.
The mechanical latch and connector interface are rated for repeated hot-swap insertion; sustained use is limited by the drive's own thermal and duty-cycle ratings, not the tray.
