  • 40 Gbps peak bandwidth with ASM2464 controller
  • Tool-free SSD mounting with included screwdriver
  • Supports M-key and B+M-key NVMe drives up to 8 TB
  • 3200 MB/s read and 2700 MB/s write theoretical maximums
  • Backward compatible with USB 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0 standards

40 Gbps M.2 NVMe 2280 enclosure

The Vszerda enclosure turns a 2280 M-key or B+M-key NVMe SSD into a portable USB-C drive. It accepts capacities up to 8 TB and uses the JEYI ASM2464 controller for PCIe and USB dual-tunnel operation. The aluminium shell keeps the drive cool during sustained transfers.

Build integration

A single USB-C cable carries both data and power, so no external adapter is required. The enclosure is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 20 G, USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 G and USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 G hosts. A screwdriver is included for tool-free installation inside the case.

Capacity and headroom

Theoretical peak reads reach 3200 MB/s and writes reach 2700 MB/s over a 40 Gbps link, dropping to 20 Gbps, 10 Gbps or 5 Gbps on slower ports. The 8 TB ceiling suits large media libraries, while protocol overhead limits sustained throughput on older USB generations.

How it compares

Questions about this item

What is the theoretical maximum read speed of the ASM2464 chipset under sustained heavy workloads?

The theoretical maximum read speed is 3200Mb/s, though protocol conversion losses will reduce real-world throughput.

How much heat does the aluminium body dissipate when the enclosure runs at 40Gbps all day?

The enclosure relies on its aluminium shell for passive cooling; no active fan is included, so sustained 40Gbps loads will warm the case noticeably.

Which M.2 NVMe SSD sizes and key types are supported for immediate use?

Only 2280-length drives with M key or B+M key NVMe interfaces are supported, up to 8TB capacity.
