50ft USB 3.0 Active Extension Cable

This active USB 3.0 extension cable stretches a connection to 50 feet using two built-in signal boosters. It links a host computer or Windows tablet to standard Type-A peripherals such as printers, webcams, VR sensors and external drives. The male-to-female design requires no driver installation and works with USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 devices.

Signal Boosters and 5 Gbps Limit

Two integrated amplifiers counteract attenuation over the 15 metre run, preserving the USB 3.0 specification of 5 Gbps. The cable is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 speeds when connected to older ports or devices. Daisy-chaining additional extensions is not supported by the design.

15 Metre Reach for Data, Not Power

The 50 foot length comfortably spans a room for data-only peripherals like cameras, microphones or VR tracking sensors. It is not intended for charging smartphones or other power-hungry devices. For runs beyond 15 metres a single longer active cable is recommended instead of linking multiple units.

Questions about this item

How long a USB 3.0 cable do I need for my VR headset — is 50 ft the right choice?

The cable is 50 ft (15 m) with two built-in signal boosters, so it reaches across a large room for Oculus Quest 2/3 sensors without daisy-chaining.

Will I actually see 5 Gbps transfer when I plug a USB 3.0 hard drive into this 50 ft extension?

The link is rated for 5 Gbps SuperSpeed and backwards compatible with 2.0 and 1.1; real-world throughput depends on the drive and host controller but the cable itself supports the full 3.0 spec.

Does the Type-A male-to-female design work with any USB 3.0 port, and what limits the length?

It plugs into any standard USB 3.0 or 2.0 Type-A host port; the active boosters compensate for signal loss up to 15 m, and daisy-chaining beyond that is not recommended.
