Thunderbolt 5 cable for creators and power users

This 6.6 ft USB-C to USB-C cable delivers up to 80 Gbps bandwidth and 240 W charging using USB4 V2 and DisplayPort 2.1 standards. It suits content creators, gamers and professionals who need single 16K@60 Hz or dual 8K@60 Hz video plus fast data transfer. Backward compatibility covers USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.2 and Thunderbolt 3 or 4 devices.

Sustained 80 Gbps throughput

Under continuous load the cable maintains bi-directional 80 Gbps and can boost to 120 Gbps for display traffic, so large video files and eGPU workloads move without throttling. Actual speed depends on the host port generation: 20 Gbps on Gen 2, 40 Gbps on Gen 3 and the full 80 Gbps on Gen 4. The 240 W rating (48 V / 5 A) holds steady for high-power laptops during long sessions.

Check host port generation and display requirements

Verify that your laptop, dock or monitor provides a USB4 V2 or Thunderbolt 5 port to reach 80 Gbps and 16K or dual 8K output; older ports will limit bandwidth to 20 Gbps or 40 Gbps. Ensure the charger supports 48 V / 5 A if you need the full 240 W. The 6.6 ft length fits typical desk setups but may be short for distant displays.

Questions about this item

Does the 6.6ft cable run warm when delivering 240W continuously?

The cable is rated for up to 240W at 48V/5A and uses USB4 V2 construction; it will warm slightly under full load but stays within normal operating limits for a passive cable of this length.

What charger and device must I already own to reach the 240W charging rate?

You need a USB-C power adapter and a host device that both support USB Power Delivery Extended Power Range at 48V/5A; the cable itself carries the current but cannot negotiate a higher voltage than the endpoints allow.

Will this cable work at 80Gbps with my Thunderbolt 3 dock and older USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSD?

The cable is fully backward compatible; it will connect Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 devices, but the link will run at the lower standard's speed — 40Gbps for Thunderbolt 3 or 20Gbps for USB 3.2 Gen 2 — not the cable's maximum 80Gbps.
