Portable 9.5 mm SATA optical-drive enclosure

This enclosure converts a laptop 9.5 mm SATA optical drive into an external USB 3.0 device. It supports transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. No driver installation is required on Windows, Linux or Mac systems. The unit draws power from the USB port so no separate adapter is needed.

Suits users with a spare 9.5 mm laptop DVD

Buyers who only have a 12.7 mm desktop drive cannot use this enclosure. It also does not accept M.2 or 2.5 inch SSDs, so anyone wanting to repurpose those storage devices should look at a different caddy. The product is an empty case; no optical drive is included in the package.

9.5 mm drive-height requirement

Only a 9.5 mm high SATA optical drive fits inside the chassis. A 12.7 mm drive will not install, and the enclosure provides no mounting for other form factors. Confirm your drive height before purchase to ensure compatibility.
