USB to DB9 null-modem cable
The Vszerda cable integrates an FTDI FT232RL chip to convert a USB port into a DB9 female RS-232C connection with crossover wiring. It is built for technicians who must link two DTE devices such as a laptop and a desktop PC without a separate null-modem adapter. The 3.6 m length gives flexibility for bench or rack work.
Crossover wiring and driver support
Pinout 2 swaps TXD and RXD lines along with the handshake pairs so that transmit connects directly to receive on the peer device. FTDI VCP drivers cover Windows 98 through 10, Server 2003 and 2008, Linux, Mac OS X, Windows CE 4.2 and later, plus Android on both 32 and 64 bit platforms.
Replaces gender changers and straight cables
This single assembly removes the need for a straight-through USB-to-serial cable plus a DB9 null-modem gender changer. The jump is worth it when the target equipment expects a DCE pinout and the installer wants fewer failure points in the chain. It does not suit situations that require a straight-through DTE-to-DCE link.

Questions about this item
Which cable length should I choose for my setup?
The cable is 3.6 m (approximately 12 ft) long, which works well for connecting a laptop USB port to a desktop DB9 COM port across a typical bench or rack.
What does the FT232RL chip actually do once the cable is plugged in?
The FT232RL chip converts USB signals to RS‑232 levels so the DB9 port appears as a virtual COM port on Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and Windows CE systems.
How does the null‑modem crossover wiring affect the DB9 connection?
Pinout 2 swaps TXD and RXD (pins 2 ↔ 3) and crosses DTR/DSR and RTS/CTS, letting two DTE devices talk directly without a separate null‑modem adapter.
