Vszerda M.2 Key A-E to PCIe 8x Adapter 270° 2230
Connects PCIe cards to M.2 Key A or E slots using a 270-degree cable and 4-pin FDD power
- Connect any PCIe device to an M.2 Key A-E slot via a standard PCIe 8x port
- Supports M.2 2230 modules for compact wireless or expansion cards
- Optional 12 V power through a 4-pin FDD connector for cards that need it
- Works with PCIe 1x, 4x, 8x and 16x cards although speed is limited to 1x by the M.2 link
- Driver-free operation on Windows XP through Windows 11 and Linux
Adapter purpose and target user
This Vszerda adapter connects a standard PCIe x8 card to an M.2 Key A or E slot on a motherboard. It suits builders who want to repurpose an M.2 Wi-Fi socket for another PCIe device such as a capture card or additional controller. The board accepts M.2 2230 modules and includes a 4-pin FDD power connector for 12 V supply. No drivers are required for supported operating systems.
Check your motherboard before ordering
Verify the motherboard provides an M.2 Key A or E slot that carries a native PCIe interface. Some boards wire this slot only for CNVio2 modules such as the 9560 or AX201; those will not work with this adapter. Confirm the slot can supply PCIe signalling rather than CNVio2, and ensure a free 4-pin FDD power header is available if the target card needs 12 V power.
Build integration and what it enables
The adapter uses a 270-degree cable to route the PCIe x8 edge connector away from the motherboard, allowing x1, x4, x8 or x16 cards to be mounted elsewhere in the chassis. Bandwidth is limited to x1 speeds because the M.2 link is x1. The 4-pin FDD power lead can be left disconnected if the installed card draws power solely from the slot. Compatible with Windows XP through 11 and Linux.

Questions about this item
Does the package include a PCIe card or only the adapter cable?
The package supplies the adapter cable with a 4-pin FDD power connector; the PCIe card itself must be purchased separately.
Which M.2 form factor does this adapter accept?
It supports the 2230 form factor in Key A or Key E slots on the motherboard.
Will a PCIe x16 graphics card run at full x16 speed through this adapter?
No, the M.2 link limits the connection to x1 speed even though the adapter presents a physical x8 slot that accepts x1, x4, x8 or x16 cards.
