Adds an M.2 NVMe SSD to a desktop via PCIe with a heatsink for 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 drives
This adapter adds an M.2 NVMe solid-state drive to a desktop PC through any PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot from version 1.0 to 4.0. It accepts M-key NVMe modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths and includes a heatsink, three silicone thermal pads, a screwdriver and spare screws. The board provides full PCIe electrical connection so the drive runs at its rated speed.
The card is the solution when a motherboard lacks an M.2 NVMe socket or only offers SATA-based M.2 connectors that cannot use PCIe drives. It also replaces a cramped onboard slot that throttles under load because the heatsink and pads pull heat away from the controller and NAND. The jump is worth it whenever the platform has a free PCIe lane but no native NVMe support or adequate cooling.
The adapter suits enthusiasts who want to install one M-key NVMe SSD on a desktop with a spare PCIe slot and confirmed NVMe boot support in the firmware. It does not work with AHCI PCIe SSDs, SATA-based B+M key drives or B-key modules, so buyers needing those interfaces must look elsewhere. Systems without NVMe boot capability in the BIOS will only see the drive as secondary storage.

They forget to place one of the three silicone thermal pads between the SSD and the heatsink before screwing the cover down.
Replace them whenever you remove the SSD or if the pads become compressed, torn or lose their tackiness.
