This horizontal cable enclosure connects M-key or B+M NVMe SSDs in 2242, 2260 or 2280 sizes to a host via USB 3.0. It uses the RTL9210B controller and supports UASP and Trim for drive longevity. The aluminium shell provides passive cooling and a slim, portable profile. It is bus-powered and works with Windows 7 through 11, Linux and macOS without extra drivers.

Interface limits and unsupported drives

The enclosure runs at USB 3.0 speeds up to 5 Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1. For higher throughput the supplier notes that a USB-C Gen 2 10 Gbps or USB4 connection is recommended. It does not support M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs, mSATA drives, WiFi cards, capture cards or any non-M.2 form factor. NVMe and SATA SSDs are not included.

Installation and common issues

Installation is plug-and-play: insert the drive, secure it, and connect the attached Type-C or Type-A cable. The reversible Type-C connector simplifies alignment. Because the enclosure only accepts NVMe M-key or B+M drives, installing a SATA M.2 or AHCI device will result in no detection. Thermal throttling may occur under sustained heavy loads due to the compact horizontal design.
