Vszerda USB 3.1 40Gbps 13cm Cable

This 13 cm USB-C to USB-C cable supports USB 3.1 data transfer at 40 Gbps and USB Power Delivery up to 100 W. It is suited for users who need a very short link between a laptop such as a MacBook and an external SSD or dock.

Practical limits of USB 3.1 40Gbps

The 40 Gbps rate requires both host and device controllers to implement the same USB 3.1 generation; older ports will fall back to lower speeds. Full 100 W power delivery also depends on the charger and device negotiating the highest PD profile.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 13 cm cable or a longer one for my portable SSD?

The 13 cm length keeps a portable SSD close to the laptop port, reducing strain on the connector while travelling.

Will the 40 Gbps rating actually move large video files faster on my MacBook?

Yes, the 40 Gbps bandwidth lets a compatible SSD saturate the link, so multi-gigabyte video transfers finish in seconds rather than minutes.
