What this cable does

A 16.5 ft USB-C to USB-C cable rated for 10 Gbps data transfer and 100 W power delivery. It carries 4K video at 60 Hz or 2K at 120 Hz and works with Thunderbolt 3 devices. The nylon braid resists tangles and the E-Marker chip negotiates safe 5 A charging for laptops, phones and tablets.

Length and bandwidth limits

At 16.5 ft the cable stays within USB 3.1 Gen 1 electrical limits for 10 Gbps signalling. Video output tops out at 3840×2160 at 60 Hz or 2K at 120 Hz. Thunderbolt 3 compatibility is supported but Thunderbolt 4 speeds or longer runs are not guaranteed. Backward compatibility covers USB 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 hosts.

Replaces shorter or slower cables

Swaps out 1 m or 2 m cables that cannot reach a wall socket or a desk-mounted dock. The jump is worth it when you need full 100 W charging and 10 Gbps data at a distance of 5 m without an active extender. Buyers who need Thunderbolt 4 bandwidth or runs beyond 5 m should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 10Gbps data speed and the 100W charging capability?

The cable delivers both simultaneously; the 10Gbps rate handles SSD transfers while the E-Marker chip negotiates up to 100W power for laptops or phones.

What does the 10Gbps figure mean when I plug this cable into my laptop and an external SSD?

It caps the real-world transfer rate at 10 gigabits per second, so large video or project files move in seconds rather than minutes.

Which USB standard does the Thunderbolt 3 compatibility rely on, and what does it limit in practice?

It is based on the USB 3.1 Gen 1 standard, so the active limit is the 10Gbps data ceiling and the 100W power ceiling negotiated by the E-Marker chip.
