USB 3.2 and Power Delivery Limits

Data throughput reaches 10 Gbps only when both connected devices and the cable itself support USB 3.2 Gen 2. Charging at 100 W requires a compatible charger, a rated cable and a device that accepts 20 V at 5 A. Video output at 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz works solely over USB C ports that implement DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt. The cable cannot connect to USB A or USB Mini B ports.

Built-in E-Marker Chip

An integrated E-Marker chip identifies the cable’s 100 W capability to the power source, enabling safe negotiation of 20 V at 5 A. Without this chip a USB C host will limit current to lower levels. Buyers whose chargers or devices lack USB Power Delivery support will not achieve the rated charging speed.
