Film Overview

National Treasure is a 2004 adventure film directed by Jon Turteltaub and starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Bean. The story follows historian Benjamin Franklin Gates as he searches for the legendary Knights Templar Treasure. Rated PG for action violence and some scary images, the movie runs for 100 minutes. It suits viewers who enjoy historical mystery plots and treasure-hunt narratives.

Format Upgrade

This DVD edition replaces earlier VHS releases of the title with a widescreen 2.39 presentation and dual French and Spanish subtitle options. The jump is worth it for collectors who want the theatrical aspect ratio preserved on standard-definition media. Buyers seeking high-definition resolution or lossless audio formats will not find them on this disc.

Playback Limits

The disc uses the standard DVD format, which limits video resolution to standard definition and audio to compressed surround tracks. Region coding may restrict playback on players locked to a different territory. Viewers accustomed to Blu-ray or streaming bitrates will notice softer detail and fewer audio channels. No bonus features or supplemental content are listed for this release.
