What this product is

Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game published by Warner Bros for PC, delivered as a Steam download code. It carries an ESRB Mature rating and adds character variations that change move sets and strategy in each match. The persistent online mode ties every bout to a global leaderboard. The title launched in 2015 from NetherRealm Studios.

Practical limits of the platform

Activation requires a Steam account and is restricted in several countries including Russia, Japan, Korea and others listed in the specifications. The game runs on 64-bit Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and needs a broadband connection for online features. Minimum hardware calls for an Intel Core i5-750 at 2.67 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965 at 3.4 GHz, 3 GB RAM and a GTX 460 or Radeon HD 5850 graphics card.

What this replaces and when to upgrade

This digital edition replaces a physical disc for players who prefer instant library access and no media handling. The jump is worth it if you want the full character-variation system and the persistent online contest without waiting for shipment. Buyers who need offline-only play or reside in a blocked region cannot activate the code.

Questions about this item

Which Mortal Kombat X version should I pick for PC?

This is the Steam downloadable code for PC, rated M for Mature, and activates only in the countries listed in the specifications.

What does the 3 GB RAM minimum mean once the game is running?

The game requires at least 3 GB of system memory to launch and play on a 64-bit OS such as Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.

How does the Steam DRM cap what I can do with the code?

The code must be activated through a Steam account, tying the licence to that account and preventing transfer or resale of the game.
