Lead-Free Brass Pressure Reducing Valve
The Watts 1/2 LF 25 AUB Z3 reduces incoming water pressure to a preset 50 psi, adjustable between 25 and 75 psi. Its lead-free brass body meets ASSE 1003, ANSI A112.26.2, CSA B356 and MIL-V-18146B Type 1 standards. A built-in strainer protects the seat from debris. Connection is FNPT union by FNPT for 1/2 inch pipe.
Upgrade from Fixed or Non-Strainer Valves
Replace a preset-only regulator when site pressure varies or when code requires field adjustment. The 25 to 75 psi range covers most residential and light commercial supplies. The integral strainer adds protection that basic valves lack, reducing service calls caused by sediment fouling the seat.
Straightforward Union Installation
The FNPT union ends allow the valve body to be removed without cutting pipe. Install horizontally with the arrow pointing downstream and leave clearance for the 7 inch height. Common issues are reversed flow direction, overtightening the union nuts and failing to flush lines before startup, which can lodge debris in the strainer.

Questions about this item
Will the 1/2 inch FNPT union connections fit my existing copper piping?
The valve uses 1/2 inch FNPT union by FNPT connections, so it threads directly onto 1/2 inch male NPT fittings or copper male adapters without extra unions.
How do I adjust the pressure from the factory 50 psi preset and what is the common mistake?
Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to raise pressure up to 75 psi or anticlockwise to lower to 25 psi; the common mistake is adjusting without a downstream gauge, so you set it blind.
The built-in strainer is mentioned — does it need regular cleaning and how often?
Yes, the integral strainer should be inspected and flushed periodically; frequency depends on local water debris, but many plumbers check it during annual whole-house pressure tests.
