Dielectric Union for Dissimilar Metals
The Watts LF 3001A dielectric union connects 3/4 inch female NPT threads to 3/4 inch female solder joints. Its brass body with zinc-plated steel nut and polysulfone insulator prevents galvanic corrosion between copper and steel piping. Buna-N gaskets seal the joint across a 33 to 180 degrees F range at up to 250 psi working pressure.
Installation Notes
Sweat the solder end to copper pipe before assembling the union to avoid heat damage to the polysulfone insulator and Buna-N gasket. Apply thread sealant only to the NPT threads. Over-tightening the zinc-plated nut can crack the insulator, while insufficient tightening leaks under pressure. The 2 1/8 inch overall length fits tight runs but leaves little room for error.
Suitable Applications
This union suits residential and light commercial water lines joining copper to galvanised or steel pipe where dielectric separation is required by code. It is not for gas service, steam lines or temperatures above 180 degrees F. Installers needing a sweat-to-sweat or threaded-to-threaded dielectric fitting should select a different model.

Questions about this item
How do I confirm the Watts 3001 dielectric union is sealing correctly after installation?
Pressurise the line up to 250 psi and inspect the Buna-N gasket and polysulfone insulator for leaks; the joint should hold pressure between 33 and 180 °F without weeping.
What comes with the Watts 3001 dielectric union and what must I supply?
The union includes the brass body, zinc-plated galvanised steel nut, Buna-N gasket and polysulfone insulator; you must provide 3/4 in NPT female pipe threads and 3/4 in copper tubing for the solder connection.
Which Watts 3001 version should I choose for a 3/4 inch copper-to-steel transition?
Select the 3/4 LF 3001A-3/4 model — it is the only version listed and matches 3/4 in FIP by 3/4 in solder with a 250 psi rating and 33 to 180 °F range.
