Watts LFN9CD Freeze Resistant Vacuum Breaker
The Watts LFN9CD is a dual-check vacuum breaker designed for potable water systems that require backflow prevention with freeze resistance. It suits residential and light-commercial plumbing installations where a compact, lead-free device is specified by code. The 3/4 inch connection fits standard supply lines without adapters.
3/4 in brass body fits standard supply lines
The brass body measures 1 1/2 in wide by 2 13/16 in high, allowing it to sit in tight cavities behind fixtures or inside meter boxes. It threads directly onto 3/4 in male pipe threads, so no special fittings or tools are required beyond normal pipe sealant. The dual-check design provides protection without an external relief port, keeping the installation simple.
Rated to 125 psi and 180 °F with ASSE 1052
The unit operates continuously from 33 °F to 180 °F at pressures up to 125 psi, covering typical domestic hot and cold distribution. It meets ASSE 1052 and CSA standards for backflow prevention and lead-free construction. Systems exceeding 125 psi or temperatures above 180 °F will need a different device rated for those conditions.

Questions about this item
Will the 125 psi pressure limit be reached before the 180 °F temperature limit in a closed hot-water system?
The vacuum breaker is rated for a maximum of 125 psi and a temperature range of 33 °F to 180 °F. In a closed system, thermal expansion can push pressure past 125 psi well before the water reaches 180 °F, so the pressure limit typically governs.
Does the brass body stay cool enough to touch after hours of 180 °F water flow?
Brass conducts heat efficiently, so the body will approach the water temperature. At the 180 °F upper limit the exterior will be too hot to touch safely; insulation or a protective cover is advisable for continuous high-temperature operation.
My outdoor faucet has 3/4 inch male hose threads — will this breaker screw straight on?
The unit has a 3/4 inch female connection, so it threads directly onto a standard 3/4 inch male hose bibb. No extra adapters are needed if the faucet matches that thread size.
