PoE HAT E for Raspberry Pi 3B+ and 4B
This Power over Ethernet HAT adds 802.3af-compliant PoE support to Raspberry Pi 3B+ and 4B boards. It draws 37 V to 57 V DC from the network cable and delivers a regulated 5 V at 2.5 A to the single-board computer. The fully isolated switched-mode supply fits the official Raspberry Pi case and includes a header for an optional cooling fan.
Replacing a separate PoE injector
The board removes the need for a local mains adapter and a mid-span injector by taking power directly from an 802.3af switch or injector. The upgrade is worthwhile when the Pi sits in a location without a convenient socket, such as a ceiling-mounted camera or a remote sensor node, and the existing network infrastructure already provides PoE.
Sustained operation with isolated SMPS
The isolated switched-mode design maintains a steady 5 V output during continuous load without injecting noise into the Pi’s rails. The compact 65.00 mm by 32.00 mm layout leaves room inside the official case for airflow, and the fan header allows active cooling to keep temperatures stable during long-running workloads.

Questions about this item
What are the board dimensions so I can check clearance inside the official Raspberry Pi case?
The HAT measures 65.00 × 32.00 mm, matching the Raspberry Pi footprint and designed to fit inside the official case without interference.
Which GPIO pins must be aligned when seating the HAT on a Pi 3B+ or 4B, and what is the common mistake?
Align the 40-pin header exactly; the frequent error is offsetting by one row, which shorts the 5 V rail and prevents the PoE supply from starting.
Does the onboard fan header require a specific voltage fan, and when should the fan be replaced?
The header supplies 5 V; use a 5 V fan and replace it when bearing noise appears or airflow drops enough to let the PoE regulator throttle under load.
