USB 2.0 9 Pin Extension Cable
This cable extends an internal USB 2.0 9 pin header by 20, 30 or 50 centimetres. It connects a 9 pin male plug to a 9 pin female socket. Builders use it when a front-panel USB port or card reader cannot reach the motherboard header. The black cable carries standard USB 2.0 signals.
Reaching Headers in Larger Cases
It replaces a direct header connection that is too short for the chassis layout. The jump is worth it when the motherboard header sits behind a long graphics card or at the bottom edge of an extended ATX board. Without the extension the device cannot be plugged in at all.
Three Length Options for Internal Routing
The 20 cm version fits tight spaces behind a drive cage. The 30 cm length reaches across a standard ATX board. The 50 cm option spans an extended ATX tray or routes behind a radiator. All three lengths carry the same USB 2.0 bandwidth; none adds extra ports or power delivery.

Questions about this item
What clearance does the 9-pin USB 2.0 connector need to fit inside a case?
The cable adds roughly 20, 30 or 50 cm of reach, so allow that extra length behind the motherboard header for the male plug to seat fully.
Which way round does the 9-pin male header go onto the motherboard?
Align the missing-pin key on the male connector with the blocked hole on the board header; forcing it the wrong way bends pins.
When should the extension cable be replaced?
Replace it if the black PVC jacket shows cracks, the 9-pin plugs feel loose, or connected front-panel ports become intermittent.
