Weatherman Trek Umbrella Neon Orange

The Weatherman Trek Umbrella in Neon Orange is a compact travel umbrella built with an industrial-strength fiberglass frame and water-repellent fabric made from up to 21 recycled plastic bottles. It weighs 1.36 lb and features a one-touch automatic open function with manual close for convenient operation during sudden downpours. A 360° reflective trim enhances visibility in low-light conditions while the ergonomic handle reduces hand fatigue during extended use.

Upgrade From Basic Compact Umbrellas

This model replaces standard compact umbrellas that invert or break in moderate gusts, offering wind-tunnel tested resistance up to 55 mph. The jump is worth it for daily commuters and travelers who have experienced canopy failure in exposed urban corridors or coastal areas where wind speeds regularly exceed 45 mph. It provides a 40 in open diameter and 50 in full arc coverage for reliable personal shelter.

Sustained Storm Performance

Under sustained high-wind conditions the fiberglass frame maintains structural integrity without inverting, unlike metal frames that permanently bend after brief gusts. The water-repellent canopy sheds heavy rain continuously and dries quickly between uses, preventing water saturation during prolonged storms. The reflective trim remains effective throughout extended low-light exposure without requiring batteries or external power sources.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 19 in closed length need in a bag or car door pocket?

The umbrella collapses to 19 in long, so it fits in most backpack sleeves, carry-on side pockets, or a standard car door compartment without forcing the zipper.

What is the correct way to close the canopy after the one-touch auto-open deploys it?

Press the button once to open automatically, then push the slider back toward the handle manually until the canopy locks shut — forcing the button a second time can jam the mechanism.

When should the 100% recycled fabric canopy be replaced if the water-repellent coating wears off?

Re-treat with a spray-on DWR when water stops beading; replace the canopy only if the fiberglass ribs or 360° reflective trim are damaged, since the frame is rated for 55 mph wind-tunnel testing.
