Ignition Switch for Genesis 2020 BB

This Weber 69283 momentary ignition switch fits 480 Genesis grill models produced from 2020 onward. It replaces the original push-button igniter on compatible BB series barbecues. The part is sold individually and installs directly into the existing control panel cutout.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The switch operates mechanically without an electrical supply of its own, so it adds no heat, noise or power consumption to the grill. Normal use consists of a brief press to spark the burner ignition system. Durability matches the original equipment specification for repeated cycling.

Upgrade Context and Value

This component restores ignition function on Genesis 2020 BB units where the original switch has worn or failed. It is not a universal part and will not fit grills outside the listed 480 model numbers. Buyers needing a different mounting style or voltage rating should verify their model number before ordering.

Questions about this item

How is the Weber 69283 momentary ignition switch installed on a Genesis 2020 BB grill?

Remove the control panel, disconnect the old switch wires, push the new switch through the mounting hole, reconnect the terminals, and reassemble the panel.

What replacement will the Weber 69283 ignition switch need over time?

The switch itself is the wear item; replace it when the button no longer returns or the igniter fails to spark.

What limit appears first on the Weber 69283 switch during repeated lighting cycles?

The momentary mechanism can wear out, causing the button to stick or lose its spring return after many presses.
