Natural-gas manifold valve assembly for Summit 670 and 660 grills, fits 28 models from 2008 and 2009
The Weber 79177 manifold valve assembly fits Summit S-670 natural gas grills produced in 2008 and 2009. It replaces the former part number 70878 and is sold individually for owners restoring factory gas flow.
This part addresses cracked housings, stuck regulators or corroded ports that cause uneven flames or gas odour. The jump is worth it when burners fail to light consistently or when a pressure test shows internal leakage.
Installation requires disconnecting the gas supply, removing the control panel and swapping the manifold using the original mounting points. Common issues include cross-threaded inlet fittings and forgetting to leak-test every joint with soapy water before first ignition.

Shut off the gas supply, remove the control panel to access the old valve, disconnect the gas line and ignition wires, fit the new 79177 assembly using the original mounting points, reconnect the gas line and wires, then test every connection with soapy water before lighting — the leak test is the step most often skipped.
Inspect the valve body and gas connections annually for corrosion or spider webs; replace the assembly if the valve sticks, leaks at the 4.5 in summit fitting, or if the ignition fails to spark after cleaning the electrode.
