8" Twist-Knot Wire Wheel

The Weiler 804-08155 is an 8-inch twist-knot wire wheel designed for surface preparation and finishing tasks. It suits metalworkers and fabricators who need aggressive material removal on steel. The wheel operates at a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm for high-speed applications. Its durable knot-type construction provides consistent and uniform results.

Thermals, noise and power

The wire wheel generates heat through friction during high-speed operation on steel surfaces. Noise levels increase with rotational speed and contact pressure against the workpiece. Power draw depends entirely on the drive tool used to spin the wheel at 6,000 rpm. Durable knot-type construction extends wheel life and maintains performance consistency.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Weiler 804-08155 twist-knot wire wheel on a 5/8 inch arbor without damaging the knot construction?

Match the wheel's 5/8 inch arbor hole to the grinder spindle, thread the supplied flange and lock nut by hand, then tighten with the grinder's spanner wrench while holding the spindle lock; over-tightening strips the threads and distorts the 0.023 inch steel knots, reducing wheel life at 6,000 rpm.

When should I replace the Weiler 804-08155 twist-knot wire wheel based on wire wear and knot integrity?

Replace the wheel once the 0.023 inch steel wires have worn down to the knot base or any knots loosen and throw wire fragments; continued use past this point unbalances the 8 inch wheel and creates a safety hazard at the rated 6,000 rpm operating speed.
