Compatibility & Fit

This hard-shell case is moulded for the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro models carrying the A1286 identifier released in 2010, 2011 and 2012. It matches the aluminum unibody chassis used on part numbers MD103LL/A, MD104LL/A, MD318LL/A, MD322LL/A, MC721LL/A, MC371LL/A, MC723LL/A and MC373LL/A.

Who it suits & who it doesn't

Owners of those legacy 15.4-inch MacBook Pro units who want a rubberised shell with full port access and a keyboard cover that lets the backlight shine through will find it fits. Buyers with the newer Retina-display 15-inch MacBook Pro or any other MacBook size or model cannot use this case.

Model-number verification

The only specification that decides fit is the A1286 model number printed on the underside of the laptop; if that number is absent or the machine is a Retina model, the case will not align.

Questions about this item

My MacBook Pro is a 2011 model A1286 with a glossy display — does this case match that exact model?

Yes, the case is built for the 15.4-inch A1286 Aluminum Unibody released in 2010, 2011 and 2012 with a glossy display.

Will the case block the CD/DVD drive slot on my 2010 MacBook Pro A1286?

No, the shell has a cut-out that leaves the optical drive slot fully accessible.

How can I confirm the case is seated correctly after I snap it on?

All ports, the battery check button and the optical drive remain open, the Apple logo is visible through the top, and the lid opens to its full angle without interference.
