  • 2 TB capacity stores large media libraries and backups

  • 64 MB cache buffers bursts for smoother throughput
  • SATA 6 Gb/s interface fits standard desktop drive bays
  • New condition delivers full manufacturer-rated reliability

Purpose-built storage

The Western Digital WD20EZRX is a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive built for desktop PCs that need 2000GB of capacity without the cost of solid-state media. It suits media libraries, backup sets and secondary data volumes where sustained write speed is secondary to price per gigabyte.

Capacity and headroom

Two terabytes hold large photo archives, video projects or game installs with room to spare for incremental backups. The 5400RPM spindle and 64MB cache deliver steady sequential throughput for streaming workloads, but random access latency limits responsiveness for operating-system drives or database files.

Build integration

The drive connects via a standard SATA 6Gb/s port and draws power from a 15-pin SATA connector, requiring no extra cables or adapters. Its 3.5-inch form factor fits any desktop bay, while the low rotational speed keeps heat and acoustic output modest, freeing airflow for higher-wattage components.

Questions about this item

Will the WD20EZRX 3.5" SATA drive work in my older desktop that only has SATA 3Gb/s ports?

The drive uses a standard SATA interface and will operate on any SATA port; the 6Gb/s link simply runs at the speed the host controller supports.

How can I verify the WD20EZRX is running at its full 5400RPM after installation?

Check the reported rotational speed in your BIOS or a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo — it should show 5400RPM for this model.

Does the WD20EZRX retail box include mounting screws or a SATA data cable?

The drive ships as a bare 3.5" unit; mounting screws and a SATA data cable are not included and must be sourced separately.
