High-capacity surveillance drive

The Western Digital WD241PURP is a 24TB 3.5-inch internal hard drive built for video surveillance systems and cloud storage deployments. It uses a SAS 6Gb/s interface and spins at 7200RPM to sustain heavy write workloads. This new drive targets installers and IT teams who need dense, reliable storage for continuous recording.

SAS host and enclosure requirements

The drive connects via a standard SAS 6Gb/s backplane or controller, so the host must provide a compatible SAS port and adequate 3.5-inch bay space. It draws power from the enclosure’s backplane connectors and does not require a separate PCIe slot or M.2 adapter. Builders should verify that their chassis and controller support high-capacity SAS drives before installation.

Packing variation only

The manufacturer notes that retail or OEM packing may vary, meaning the drive may arrive in a bulk tray or a single retail box. No mounting screws, cables, or software utilities are mentioned in the supplied data. Buyers should plan to source any required rails, cables, or management tools separately.
