Western Digital XE 900GB 10000RPM SAS 6Gb/s 32MB 2.5-inch internal hard drive

SKU CH-RQ7D-F0S1V

A 900 GB 2.5-inch enterprise SAS drive spinning at 10,000 RPM with 32 MB cache

  • 900 GB capacity for high-density storage
  • 10,000 RPM spindle speed for fast data access
  • SAS 6 Gb/s interface for reliable enterprise connectivity
  • 5-inch form factor with 32 MB cache for compact performance

Enterprise storage capacity

The Western Digital XE drive provides 900 GB of storage on a 2.5-inch form factor with a 10000 RPM spindle speed. A 32 MB cache and SAS 6Gb/s interface support consistent data throughput for transaction-heavy workloads. The drive is supplied new in retail or OEM packaging and suits servers or storage arrays that require sustained random I/O performance.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the 10000 RPM rotation maintains steady throughput without the latency spikes seen in lower-speed disks. The SAS interface handles multiple outstanding commands to keep queues full during heavy database or virtualisation traffic. Mechanical wear increases with constant operation so the drive targets environments where performance consistency outweighs maximum capacity.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 10000RPM SAS drive generate under continuous load?

The 10000RPM spindle speed and SAS 6Gb/s interface mean the drive runs warmer than slower models; ensure your chassis provides adequate airflow for 2.5-inch bays.

Does my system need a SAS controller to use this 900GB drive?

Yes, the drive uses a SAS 6Gb/s interface, so a compatible SAS HBA or RAID controller with a 2.5-inch drive bay is required.
