Cuts PEX, PVC and other plastic tubing up to 2-3/8 in with a ratcheting shear action on an 18 in aluminium frame
The Westward 10D468 is a ratcheting shear cutter designed for plastic piping up to 2 3/8 in diameter. It handles PEX, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and PVDF tubing with a high-leverage mechanism. The 17 in aluminum alloy body provides a compact reach for tight spaces. This tool suits plumbers and HVAC technicians who need clean, straight cuts on plastic pipe.
The ratcheting action reduces hand force compared with simple shear snips, making repetitive cuts less tiring. The jump is worth it when cutting schedules of 10 or more pieces per job, or when pipe walls are thick enough to bind a basic cutter. It does not serve metal pipe, conduit or large-diameter PVC beyond the stated maximum capacity.
Squeeze the handles to engage the ratchet, advance the blade, then release and repeat until the cut completes. The most common issue is blade dulling after heavy use on abrasive PVDF, which increases required force. Debris buildup in the ratchet pawl can cause skipping, so wipe the mechanism clean after each session. No reaming tool is included, so a separate deburrer may be needed.

The ratcheting shear cuts PEX, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and PVDF tubing from 1/16 in up to 2 3/8 in outside diameter.
Squeeze the handles fully until the ratchet clicks, release, then repeat; forcing a partial stroke bends the blade and deforms thin-wall tube.
Replace the blade when cuts leave a ragged edge or the ratchet requires noticeably more force on the same 2 3/8 in PVC.
